Fear of Eating More

A conversation with a client last week really stuck with me:


“You can get away with eating more because you’re slim.”

My response?

“No—I have a slim figure because I eat enough of the right foods for my energy requirements.”


If I overate, ignored balance in my meals, or didn’t pay attention to my needs, I wouldn’t have the body I have. I wouldn’t be able to train effectively or maintain the muscle I’ve built. My genetics don’t naturally lean toward a slim figure, so yes—I make conscious choices.


But those choices are not about restriction.

I eat a lot—but it’s a lot of the right things. That gives me the energy I need to train, coach my clients, and stay consistent day to day. And because I eat enough and plan my meals, I don’t crave junk food, I don’t snack out of hunger or habit, and I don’t hit energy slumps because I skipped meals.


I value food for what it truly is: fuel. It keeps me going, supports my training, and helps me maintain the physique I’ve worked for. And while it takes some effort, it becomes much easier when I plan ahead, eat intentionally, and prioritise quality.


This is why the conversation around eating more is so important.

For years, many—especially women—have been told:

“I want to lose weight, so I need to eat less.”

Or men say: “I want to lose my belly, so I’m cutting out carbs.”


But it’s not that simple.

And if that approach hasn’t worked for you so far… maybe it’s time to consider another way.


Understanding what your body truly needs—focusing on whole foods, balanced meals, and consistent eating—is far more effective than chasing the next diet trend, skipping meals, or relying on supplements.


When you nourish your body properly, it starts working better as a system. You’ll train better, recover faster, have more energy, and—yes—see positive changes in your body.


That’s why I coach clients to feel confident eating more of the right things. When we shift the focus to fuelling your body, everything starts to click: you move better, feel better, and live better.
